The Pakistan Haj Organisers Association said that around Rs199.67 billion was sent from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia to help Pakistani pilgrims. Under the Haj agreement, 179,210 Pakistanis were allowed to go for Haj. But only 23,620 were first allowed to go privately, leaving 67,000 people unsure about their trip, even though they had already paid over Rs36 billion. Mohammad Kamran Zeb, a member of the association, said that a lot of money was spent on tickets, taxes, and service charges, including money from overseas Pakistanis.
Zeb blamed the Ministry of Religious Affairs for delaying the process and putting restrictions on private Haj organisers. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, said the government is working hard to send as many pilgrims as possible. He also said that 10,000 more people were now allowed to perform Haj privately after talking to Saudi officials
