Taliban Imposes Internet Ban in Northern Provinces

KABUL, September 18, 2025 — The Taliban government has cut off internet access in five northern provinces, including Kunduz, Baghlan, and Takhar, citing the need to “prevent immorality.”

Officials said mobile networks remain operational, while a domestic internet network is being developed as an alternative. The restrictions have drawn criticism from rights groups concerned about censorship and access to information.
