Qatar Holds State Funeral for Victims of Israeli Strike in Doha
DOHA, Sept 11, 2025 — Qatar held a state funeral for six victims of an Israeli strike on its capital earlier this week, in a ceremony attended by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and regional leaders.
The dead included five Palestinian Hamas members and Qatari security officer Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari. The funeral took place at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque, with Sheikh Tamim standing in the front row, a symbolic act of defiance against aggression on Qatari soil.
Regional and Global Reactions
The Israeli strike reportedly targeted Hamas leaders during ceasefire discussions but failed to kill the top leadership. The attack marked one of the most serious escalations in the Gulf in recent years.
Arab leaders expressed solidarity with Qatar, while former U.S. President Donald Trump voiced concern, saying he was “not thrilled” about Israel’s actions.
