Islamabad, 31 May — In a significant move to fast-track development in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved an additional Rs. 5 billion for priority public projects across the region.
The allocation, made under the Prime Minister’s Special Package for AJK, will support the AJK Legislative Assembly Complex, Rathoa Haryam Bridge, MBB Medical College Mirpur, and Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College Muzaffarabad.
The Prime Minister’s decision reflects a deep commitment to bridging regional disparities and ensuring that the people of AJK have access to the same quality of infrastructure and services available elsewhere in the country. These projects are designed to enhance connectivity, improve institutional capacity, and expand access to quality healthcare and governance facilities.
Better road and bridge infrastructure, alongside robust educational and medical institutions, will significantly improve the everyday lives of citizens in AJK. At the same time, they will help strengthen the region’s integration with the national economy and administrative framework.
By reinforcing the development agenda in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, the Prime Minister is laying the groundwork for a more cohesive, equitable, and forward-looking Pakistan. This initiative not only responds to the needs of the people of AJK but also serves the broader goal of national unity and shared progress.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasised that these resources must be deployed promptly and transparently, and that their impact should be felt widely and meaningfully. The decision stands as another milestone in the Prime Minister’s drive to ensure that no region of Pakistan is left behind in its journey towards prosperity.
