K-Electric Reports PKR 4.13 Billion Profit Amid Economic Challenges
KARACHI, September 23, 2025 — K-Electric (KE) has announced a profit after tax of PKR 4.13 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, highlighting resilience in the face of difficult macroeconomic conditions. Despite sluggish GDP growth of 2.51%, high inflation, and elevated policy rates, the company managed to maintain operational stability. Key achievements included the commissioning of the 900 MW BQPS-III power plant, which improved overall fleet efficiency to 49.5%, and dispatching a record 3,550 MW to meet Karachi’s rising power needs.
KE also expanded its transmission infrastructure, increasing network capacity to 7,095 MVA through new transformers. Anti-theft drives resulted in the removal of more than 350,000 kg of illegal connections. However, the utility faced challenges, including a dip in recovery ratios to 91.5% and rising AT&C losses. Reaffirming its long-term vision, KE pledged continued investment in operational excellence to ensure reliable electricity supply and sustained value creation for stakeholders.
