EU Considers Suspending Israel Trade Deal Over Gaza Offensive

The European Union is weighing a proposal to suspend its free-trade agreement with Israel, which covers €5.8 billion in exports. If passed, Israeli goods would face €227 million in duties annually.

The plan also includes sanctions on Israeli far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, violent settlers, and Hamas leaders. The move reflects growing frustration in Europe over Israel’s Gaza offensive and deepening humanitarian crisis.

The proposal requires support from 15 of 27 EU states, with Germany seen as the decisive vote. Observers call it the EU’s strongest warning yet to Israel, signaling a possible turning point in Europe-Israel relations.
