Maryam Nawaz Reaffirms Pledge to Women’s Safety in Punjab

LAHORE, September 24, 2025 — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her strong commitment to women’s safety, emphasizing that protecting women remains central to her vision for the province. Addressing a public gathering, she declared, “These are my daughters and sisters standing here. Anyone who dares to harass women faces consequences and repents for life. Punjab’s Chief Minister is a woman, and it is my dream to make Punjab the safest place for mothers, sisters, and daughters. Insha’Allah, we are very close to making this dream a reality.”

Her remarks highlight the provincial government’s focus on strengthening women’s protection, creating a safer environment, and ensuring that perpetrators of harassment face strict accountability. Observers note that the administration has already expanded women’s protection centers, introduced helplines, and enhanced police response units to reinforce its policy of zero tolerance for gender-based violence.

Political analysts view Maryam Nawaz’s statement as both symbolic and practical — reflecting not only her role as the first female Chief Minister of Punjab but also her broader agenda of women’s empowerment in governance. As Punjab continues to implement reforms, her vision positions the province to emerge as a model of safety and inclusivity for women in Pakistan.
