KP Government Launches CNIC-Linked Vehicle Registration System

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rolled out a modernized vehicle registration and number plate system in line with federal standards. The new policy directly links vehicle registration to the owner’s CNIC instead of the chassis number, aiming to strengthen transparency and curb criminal misuse.

Authorities announced that ownership transfers must be completed within three months of purchase. Sellers are also required to process transfers promptly to avoid penalties or future disputes.

The system, enforceable after November 30, 2025, is expected to simplify transactions for citizens while improving law enforcement’s ability to track vehicles used in crimes.
