President Zardari Begins 10-Day Visit to China to Boost Bilateral Ties

CHENGDU, September 12, 2025 — President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Chengdu on Friday to begin his 10-day official visit to China, during which he is set to hold high-level meetings with Chinese leadership on regional peace, trade cooperation, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Zardari was received at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Sichuan Vice Governor Huang Ruixue. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong were also present at the welcoming ceremony.

The president will meet top Chinese leaders in Beijing and visit Sichuan, Shanghai, and Xinjiang, with discussions expected to center on expanding trade and investment, boosting connectivity, and advancing CPEC, which remains the flagship of bilateral cooperation. Officials described the visit as an opportunity to reaffirm the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” at a time when both nations are seeking to deepen strategic and economic ties.
