Punjab Launches Crime Control Department to Tackle Organised Crime
The Punjab government has launched a major initiative to fight organised crime with the creation of the Crime Control Department (CCD). The department, approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, will be a specialised unit within the Punjab Police. It aims to address major issues like drug trafficking, land grabbing, extortion, and kidnapping across the province.
Modeled after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the CCD will focus on proactive crime prevention and work to dismantle criminal syndicates.
