Hajj 2025: Saudi Arabia Launches Heat Safety Plan for Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has introduced strong heat protection measures for Hajj 2025 to protect millions of pilgrims from extreme summer heat. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, along with the Hajj Awareness Centre, started a national campaign to guide pilgrims on staying safe during high temperatures.

The safety guide encourages pilgrims to drink plenty of water, use umbrellas or head coverings, and rest in shaded or cool areas. Avoiding outdoor activity between 11 AM and 4 PM is also advised.

To support these efforts, Saudi authorities have added cooling systems at key Hajj sites, including misting zones, cold water stations, and shaded rest areas. Air-conditioned tents have been set up in Mina and Arafat to give pilgrims relief from the heat.

Other safety steps include:

  • Distributing umbrellas and water at relief points
  • Using special white road materials to reduce surface heat
  • Providing wearable heat monitors to track body temperature
  • Teaching pilgrims to spot signs of heat exhaustion

These steps aim to prevent heat-related illnesses and ensure a safe, comfortable Hajj experience for everyone.
